Save Money while Living Green this Recession

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

As a country, America is facing an economic crisis that has not been seen in decades.  People are getting laid off and it is getting more and more difficult to make ends meet.  In times like these, it is easy to put green living in the back seat while trying to save money.  At New Wave Enviro, we think the opposite; there isn’t a better time to live a green lifestyle and save money.

A 10 stage water filter will give you supreme water quality for just a half a cent a glass!  So why would you pay $1.20 for an environmentally damaging plastic bottle of water when you could get 15 gallons of water for the same price?  All those costly water bottles will end up in landfills for centuries while we all could save money by purchasing a 10 stage water filter and a reusable water bottle.  The arguments for bottled water are really running out.

So, if today, you purchase a money saving stainless steel bottle for $10 from New Wave Enviro, that bottle would have paid for itself in less than 10 days with the savings from not wasting money on bottled water every day.  After 4 months, the 10 stage water filter will have paid for itself and after a year, you will have saved $240!  With these savings, you can make a few extra trips to the grocery store or help pay your bills.  This simple way to live green will put more money in your pocket, guaranteed, and will help you pay for more important needs in your life.

Recyclable Eastar Water Bottles

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

For years, environmental enthusiasts have wondered what to do with your old reusable water bottle if you need to throw it away.  New Wave Enviro now has the answer: The Eastar resin water bottle.  Sick of the color of your reusable water bottle?  If it is made with Eastar resin, it can be recycled.  For whatever reason you have to throw out your old reusable water bottle, instead of throwing it in the trash where the plastic will sit in a landfill for thousands of years, an Eastar bottle can be easily recycled.

New Wave Enviro is designing their water bottles with this new, litter free, Eastar material that has been approved by the FDA and is NSF 51 certified.  Eastar is a glass-like plastic that will not shatter or deform and is BPA free.  This is not uncommon for New Wave Enviro to be on the forefront of the environmental movement; they have been focused on reducing plastic landfill with reusable products waste since their inception.  From the stainless steel water bottles to the biodegradable, corn-based bottles, this is just another advance for this environmentally friendly company.

London Takes a Stand Against Bottled Water

Friday, January 9th, 2009

The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, has launched a city-wide boycott on bottled water.  His “London on Tap” campaign takes aim at the bottled water served to London’s citizens that costs 500 times more than tap water and is 300 times as harmful to the environment.  The problem with the bottled water is the carbon footprint left by the processing of the plastic and the distance the water travels to consumers.  Some bottled water in London traveled from as far as New Zealand.

Britain has taken a hard-line on the issue of bottled water over the past year with the British Environment Minister, Phil Woolas, calling the bottled water industry “morally unacceptable.”  Livingstone has called the high demand for bottled water “a bit of a fad” and says that consumers should not be embarrassed to ask for tap water at restaurants.

In America, we should follow suit and start our own boycott of bottled water.  By purchasing a filter for your tap water, you can have better quality water than bottled for a fraction of the cost.  Using your own, reusable, water bottle will also save the environmental damage caused by the production of the plastic used in bottled water.  It is about time we ended this “fad” and start using more environmentally friendly ways to quench our thirst.

Removing Chlorine from Bath Water

Monday, January 5th, 2009

New studies have shown some startling facts about the harmful effects of chlorinated tap water on your body.  The American Journal of Epidemiology reported a study suggesting that areas with higher levels of chlorine in drinking water almost doubles the risk of bladder cancer.  The THMs produced by chlorinated water have been found to cause cancer.  People who regularly bathed in chlorinated water had an increased risk of bladder cancer by 83%.  It was found that absorbing chlorine through the skin is more dangerous than drinking tap water because absorption bypasses the liver which filters out some of the harmful contaminants.  It is essential to filter your bathing water as well as your drinking water to fully protect yourself and your family from the harmful effects of chlorine in tap water.

The solution to removing chlorine from bath water is the Splish Splash Bathtub Filter from New Wave Enviro.  Not only will the filter remove the harmful chlorine from water in just minutes, it will give you softer skin and hair.  De-chlorinated water improves lathering and sudsing, maximizing the effectiveness of your favorite bath products.  Splish Splash is also non-toxic and safe for humans and pets and lasts about 200 baths.
