Ah, The Benefits of Filtered Water

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

As if saving literally hundreds of dollars every year isn’t reason enough to stop drinking bottled water and start using your own 10 stage filter, here are the many health related reasons to buy your own reusable water bottle and filter.

Drinking pure water is the first step in any healthy diet, especially for a child’s proper nutrition while their bodies are developing.  According do the EPA, drinking water that contains lead causes approximately 480,000 learning disorders in children every year in the United States!  Pregnant women must also drink lead free water to prevent serious birth defects.  It is absolutely essential to have the cleanest source of water because there are more than 2100 contaminants possible present in municipal tap water, including poisons.  Some types of cancer can be associated with these toxins found in tap water.  Because water may come from a bottle at a store does not mean that the water is clean and municipal treatment plants cannot always control dangerous forms of bacteria.  Due to this, the only way to absolutely assure that your drinking water is clean is to have a 10 stage filter at your family’s water tap.

Spring Vacations

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Its that time of year again.  Spring breakers and families are taking time off from school and work to travel to some of the worlds most exotic destinations.  Along with all the fun and relaxation involved with spring vacations comes the health risks.  Vacations may seem like a reasonable time to take a break from a bottled water lifestyle, but with New Wave Enviro, there is an easy and money saving way to have your own purified, drinkable water on vacation without bringing your 10 stage filter in your carry-on.  The UN estimates that 18 percent of Latin America and Caribbean drinking water supplies do not meet quality standards.  Along with this, the EPA found that 15 percent of water samples from airplanes probably contained harmful pathogens.

New Wave Enviro offers bottled water nozzles filters that filter any water source right before it reaches your mouth!  The filter is small enough to fit in your pocket and can travel with you wherever you go.  The filter fits on any standard sized plastic water bottle and filters out the water with a gentle squeeze.  Each filter lasts 90 refills saving you money and reducing the risk of being sick on your vacation.

Canada Taking a Step in the Right Direction

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities has moved to encourage towns and cities in our neighbor to the north to phase out the selling of bottled water on municipal property.  Although the resolution passed Saturday by the federation holds no weight as far as the legality of selling bottled water, this is a step in the right direction to eliminate the wastefulness caused by bottled water production.  The energy to discard the plastic bottles has become too burdensome on the local governments of Canada, who bear the cost of disposing of the recyclable bottles that end up in landfills more often than not.  “It’s not a ban, we just try to educate our citizens that the water that you pay for in your city is good — use it,” said Jean Perrault, the mayor of Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Not only is this an expense on the local governments of Canada, but it is an expense on the individuals who purchase the bottled water.  “Buying a bottle of water costs approximately $2.50. The cost to produce water in the city? I can fill up 6,000 little bottles for the price of $2.50,” Perrault said.

Canada has become a utopia for living a bottled-water-free life.  Already 27 Canadian municipalities have stopped the sale of bottled water on their properties.  21 of the universities and colleges in Canada have also created bottled-water-free zones.  As citizens of America, we should demand that our politicians follow suit and continue this trend of eliminating the wastefulness of bottled water.
