Live Near a Golf Course? Then Purchase a Water Filter!

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Golf is one of the most popular sports in America.  Everywhere you go, golf courses are popping up.  Many people enjoy this sport and the beautiful landscape of the courses, but this all comes at the expense of the environment and water supplies.  There are over 18,000 golf courses in the United States, more than half of the world’s golf courses.  These golf courses cover more than 1.7 million acres of land which require plenty of water to irrigate. 4 billion gallons of water EVERY DAY are used to irrigate golf courses in the United States alone!

With this extreme usage of public water supplies, the golf courses use pesticides and fertilizers that run off into the surrounding environments and communities.  Studies have found that farmers and greens keepers have an unusually high percentage of lymphoma related deaths, which could also be true for the surrounding communities.  Since golf is a $49 billion dollar industry in the US, lawmakers have much less incentive to regulate the environmental impacts of the sport.  But, until the government applies more strict regulation to the golf industry, the best way to keep the public safe is to filter all their public drinking and bathing water.  And for the safety of you and your loved ones, install a New Wave Enviro drinking water filter on your tap

Arsenic Increases Breast Cancer Growth

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Arsenic, one of the many toxins that New Wave’s Premium 10 Stage Drinking Water Filter removes from our drinking water, has been found to alter cell signals and damage DNA in early stage breast cancer cells, according to a study published in the journal Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology.

While arsenic exposure is associated with many types of cancer, including skin, bladder, liver, lung and prostate, its influence on breast cancer is still far from known. This is one of the first studies to investigate how the metal may affect breast cancer initiation and growth.

It’s after discoveries like these when one is grateful to have a drinking water filter installed in the tap.

Hundreds of Pollutants Exist in U.S. Drinking Water

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Last December, the Environmental Working Group released the results of their 3 year analysis of 20 million tap water quality tests, and found that water suppliers detected an astonishing 316 contaminants in water delivered to the American public, 202 of which are currently unregulated.

Below is an excerpt from the EWG’s press release:

“Tap water in many large metropolitan areas is polluted with a cocktail of chemical contaminants. These pollutants usually don’t violate any legal standards, but they often come in potentially toxic combinations that raise serious questions about the long-term safety of drinking the water.”

Keep in mind that New Wave Enviro’s 10 Stage Premium Drinking Water Filter and Fresh Water Works Water Filter protect us from such contaminants as Lead, Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Floating Solids, Asbestos, Pesticides, Herbicides, Chlorine, Trihalomethanes, PBC’s, Organic Arsenic and Mercury.  These are highly detrimental to our health and are the type of contaminants the aforementioned ‘tap quality water tests’ looked for in tap water.

Bottled Water Makes Top Ten Toxic Products List

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Ecochildsplay.com recently listed the top 10 most toxic consumer products.  Not only do these products pose serious health risks, but they are unnecessary as parts of our daily lives.  After reading this article, there is a good chance you will avoid these products for now on.  It’s no surprise that bottled water made the top ten, as today’s consumers are becoming well aware of the dangers associated with drinking bottled water.  Below is what Ecochildsplay.com has to say about bottled water:

“Most people buy bottled water thinking they’re avoiding any contaminants that may be present in their tap water. For the most part, they’re wrong. Bottled water can be just as, or even more, contaminated than tap water. In fact, some bottled water IS tap water – just packaged (in plastic that can leach chemicals into the water) and over-priced. Also, from manufacture to disposal, bottled water creates an enormous amount of pollution – making our water even less drinkable. Do yourself and the world a favor and invest in a reusable stainless steel water bottle and a water filter.”

Health Effects of Drinking Contaminated Water

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

People are increasingly concerned about the safety of their drinking water. As improvements in analytical methods allow us to detect impurities at very low concentrations in water, water supplies once considered pure are found to have contaminants.

Drinking water can become contaminated at the original water source, during treatment, or during distribution to the home.  If your water comes from surface water (river or lake), it can be exposed to acid rain, storm water runoff, pesticide runoff, and industrial waste.  This water is cleansed somewhat by exposure to sunlight, aeration, and micro-organisms in the water.  If your water comes from groundwater (private wells and some public water supplies), it generally takes longer to become contaminated but the natural cleansing process also may take much longer. Groundwater moves slowly and is not exposed to sunlight, aeration, or cleansing aerobic micro-organisms. Groundwater can be contaminated by disease-producing pathogens, leachate from landfills and septic systems, careless disposal of hazardous household products, agricultural chemicals, and leaking underground storage tanks.

The levels of contaminants in drinking water are sometimes high enough to cause acute health effects. Examples of acute health effects are nausea, lung irritation, skin rash, vomiting, dizziness, and even death.  Contaminants are more likely to cause chronic health effects, effects that occur long after repeated exposure to small amounts of a chemical. Examples of chronic health effects include cancer, liver and kidney damage, disorders of the nervous system, damage to the immune system, and birth defects.

As people hear about the possibility of contaminants in their drinking water, they worry about potential health effects. Water supplies once considered to be pure may have various contaminants, often from natural sources. That is why it is essential to take action for you and your family, by further educating yourself about the dangers of contaminated water and purchasing a drinking water water filter.

Products offered by New Wave Enviro, such as the Premium 10 Stage Drinking Water Filter, protect us from such contaminants as Lead, Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Floating Solids, Asbestos, Pesticides, Herbicides, Chlorine, Trihalomethanes, PBC’s, Organic Arsenic and Mercury.  Below are some really cool facts about the Premium 10 Stage Drinking Water Filter:

The Premium 10 Stage Water Filter: Protect You and Your Family from Contaminated Drinking Water

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Federal Law does not require tap water to be safe for long-term consumption.  The long-term risks of drinking contaminated water, such as various forms of cancer, are overshadowed by the cost and feasibility of purification.  Health officials do acknowledge that relaxed contamination limits cause us to be exposed to chemicals in levels that pose serious health risks.  Frightening, right?  Well now you can protect yourself and your family from the dangers of impure water with New Wave’s Premium 10 Stage Drinking Water Filter.  Learn more at www.newwaveenviro.com.
