Prenatal BPA Exposure Linked To Breast Cancer

A recent study performed on mice revealed that prenatal exposure to bisphenol-A (BPA) may affect a fetus for life.  Therefore, adult women who were exposed prenatally to BPA could be at increased risk of breast cancer, according to a new study soon to be published in Hormones & Cancer.  BPA is an endocrine-disrupting chemical that interferes with normal reproductive, developmental, neurological, and immune functions in humans and animals.  Endocrine-disrupting chemicals such as BPA are designed, produced and marketed largely for specific industrial purposes.

In a recent post featured on ecochildsplay.com, the author recalls drinking pregnancy tea during both of her pregnancies.  Pregnancy tea is chock full of important vitamins and minerals that assist in healthy fetal development.  The abovementioned author drank the tea from a Nalgene bottle, before anyone became aware of the existence of BPA in plastics.  Now, we are well aware of the dangerous health effects linked to BPA.
